Power Trio Delivers Fresh, Heavy, and Passionate Collection of Tracks

Kirky TG launched his self-titled first album on Saturday, October 14th. The album features two original instrumentals and uniquely interpreted vocal and instrumental covers by blues greats.

The power trio comprises Kirky TG on guitar and vocals, Zia Seren on bass guitar, and Todd Blackmon on drums. The album was professionally recorded, produced, and published by Illscape Studios LLC and captures the raw, grungy, emotive energy of the band’s compelling live performances. The tracks were captured live in the Houston studio in one session.

Kirky TG is a Houston-based blues singer, guitarist, and composer with an expressive voice and guitar style. Blending the traditional and modern, TG is driven by groove, tone, and feel. Inspired by diverse genres of blues, including urban electric, delta, and hill country, he also has jazz, grunge, classical, and hip-hop influences. TG is a passionate supporter of the blues community and is President of the Houston Blues Society.

Zia Seren is a multidisciplinary artist who thrives in the lower frequencies. She is a music composer and producer, with four published original albums to her credit. Zia is a student of the principles of art and design and how they converge in music. She earned a BFA from Academy of Art University and is an Inductee of National Technical Honors Society and Kappa Pi Art Honors Society.

A Houston native, Todd Blackmon graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Music Performance with Jazz Concentration from Texas State University. His mentor was the legendary drummer Butch Miles who worked with Basie, Brubeck, Sinatra, and more. Todd has performed in masterclasses with John Riley, “Tootie” Heath, Eddie Gomez, and José Aponte.

The recordings feature TG’s latest guitar build, ‘Discovery,’ a Warmoth natural-finish strat with Seymour Duncan pickups and Elixir strings. Discovery features a bubinga neck, black korina chambered body, and incorporates the tone and playability preferences he’s developed in two-plus decades of experimentation. She is played through the Boss Katana MK II Artist. Zia’s bass was recorded through the Boss Katana-210.
